Despite both it was an insanely entertaining 3rd period/OT session, and arguably one of the best games in recent NHL playoff memory.

But in all seriousness it was an unfortunate spill for JoePa, as Eakin made a play that wasn't dirty or anything on the faceoff. Hope Joe's ok but I'd say the major was more from the result even though his action didn't warrant it.

Haha. Right. Obviously the major. Yeah I’m curious about it but it seems that a check off the face off isn’t that out of the ordinary. The major was resultant from the injury. The nhl always gets that wrong, the penalty should be on the play, not the result of the play

Refs see blood, instantly call a 5 and done. Welcome to today's PC world. Pathetic.

That 5 minute major was definitely a bad call. 2 minutes would have been fine for me. Couldn’t figure out if Stastny should have gotten 2 min for his part in that but I think the refs thought both hits were Eakin’s. But Eakin’s goal was a farce. His stick was a half foot above his shoulder and easily more than that over the crossbar. That was as bad a call for me. But amazing how Fleury’s wheels can just completely fall off after playing outstanding for 50 minutes. Don’t get me wrong I’m happy to see Vegas out. They don’t belong in the league anyway and this roster was a shady gift by Gary BettMonster.

Terrible call but what's with the Vegas penalty killing? 4 goals? That's where the blame should be pointed at.

I was surprised Eakin's goal counted. His stick looked higher than the crossbar when the puck deflected off his stick. Typical NHL. Dartboard justice, phantom penalty calls and random goals counted and disallowed.

LOL, at least Vegas doesn't have longstanding fans that have been hoping for decades, only to be robbed by an unbelievable phantom call.
Imagine if a situation like that happened to Toronto.
Bettman would be assasinated.

So ya, Vegas should not have given up 4 pp goals, (Fleury gave away game 6),
BUT,
without that ridiculous call, Vegas wins the game.

So Vegas lost on a terrible, bad call.
I mean a bad call, minor penalty happens all the time, but a phantom MAJOR, are you kidding me!

There have been many phantom 5 minute majors this year, the last couple of months of the season it happened to Rangers twice, Zibanejad in Dallas, and Lemiuex in Vancouver, both were "reversed" by the league the day after.

The Eakin goal was a worse call than the Eakin penalty. He tipped it over his head, so unless he is under 4 feet tall, how is it not a high stick ?????????

The officiating this year has been the worst ever, something needs to be done to fix this

After Ferland and now this, the league is going to have to make these calls reviewable.

buttman doesn't care, he is rolling around half naked on his carpet with black socks on and giggling like a 3 year old with glee

That's a great name for this game...truly an epic game that will be talked about for years to come.

As a leaf fan. That was way less than Kadri's cross-check. Having no horse in that race, I have trouble even calling that a minor. That cross-check happens 100 times a game without a call.
